About Us

Unleash your God-given Potential

Sinomcebo Foundation is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that was founded in 2016. Sinomcebo mean ‘we possess wealth’ and it aims to empower young people to identify, unearth and unleash the wealth of potential within them. Sinomcebo’s initial focus was to provide psychosocial support to perinatally HIV infected adolescents in rural KwaZulu Natal.

In response to the influx of HIV positive adolescents, the global community made great strides in facilitating access to access to education, treatment, and health services however the psychosocial aspect was often neglected. As a result, many children were dying prematurely due to none-adherence to medication and others resorted to self-defeating behaviour to deal with the psychosocial effect their status.

In July of 2016 we started the support group. The purpose of the group was to provide support and create a safe environment for the adolescents to express their feelings. We wanted to instil a belief in these young people that, although HIV is life-changing in some respects, it does not need to be life-limiting. We wanted them to realise that there is so much potential within them which can enable them to accomplish all their goals in the presence of HIV.

The organisation expanded their programmes to cater to disadvantaged youth who were performing well in school but did not have the resources to advance their lives. We then partnered with schools to help us identify such learners and supported them through mentorship, career guidance, bursary opportunities and skills development. Our team dedicated time and effort to reach out schools and provided motivational talks and prayers for learners. We also identify learners that come from impoverished family and supply them with school uniforms and food parcels to ensure that they maintain their dignity and focus on their education.
